Best form after newsletter subscribe (2026): greetform vs Tally, Beehiiv Surveys, and Typeform
Pick the form for the moment after a newsletter subscribe. greetform for that job, Tally for free unlimited general forms, Beehiiv Surveys for Beehiiv-only fields.

- Best form after newsletter subscribe: greetform. Branching questions, an offer wall, lead routing, and ESP field sync are the whole product.
- Best free unlimited general form to put on a thank-you page: Tally. Unlimited forms and submissions, within fair use.
- Best Beehiiv-native subscribe survey: Beehiiv Surveys, for custom fields inside Beehiiv on Lite, Pro, and Enterprise.
- Best conversational general survey: Typeform. Best form for Airtable, Notion, and Sheets: Fillout. Neither is built for newsletter offers and leads.
- greetform's free plan is 250 new subscribers a month, forever, with no card. It is not an unlimited general form builder.
If the job is what happens in the first seconds after someone joins your list, pick greetform. If the job is unlimited free forms for any use case, pick Tally. greetform is a newsletter post-subscribe layer. It is not the best general form builder, and this guide does not treat it as one.
The form that shows up after newsletter signup
Subscribe already succeeded. The email is saved. Then a short, optional set of questions can change the next step, the segment, the offer, or the lead, and the useful fields land on the email platform. That is a different product from the signup field itself, and a different product from an annual reader research survey.
A general form builder can be embedded on a thank-you URL. That does not make it a post-subscribe system. The test is simple: does an answer change an offer or a lead, and does that answer write back to Beehiiv, ActiveCampaign, or Mailchimp without a migration?
Short answer: Two winners, two different jobs. Best form after newsletter subscribe: greetform. Best free unlimited general form: Tally. Use the second when you need forms for everything else.

greetform: best form after newsletter subscribe
greetform starts after the subscription is already saved. It asks branching questions, can show an offer card in the middle of the survey, ends on an offer wall, captures a lead on a branded page, and syncs fields to Beehiiv, ActiveCampaign, or Mailchimp. Nothing about the email platform has to move.
- Free forever, no card: 250 new subscribers a month, one publication, one team member, one live survey, one form, and three offers.
- Paid plans: start at $49 a month (Starter: 2,500 new subscribers a month). Growth is $99 a month. Scale is $199 a month.
- On every plan, including Free: conditional logic, inline offer cards, the offer wall, lead pages, and lead routing.
- Not this tool: job applications, a payments suite, HIPAA workflows, or an Airtable operations form.
Choose greetform if: The subscribe moment is the job. You want the answer to change the next question, a sponsor or product offer, or where a lead goes, and you want that field on the subscriber in Beehiiv, ActiveCampaign, or Mailchimp.

Tally: best free unlimited general form
Tally's pricing page says unlimited forms and submissions, completely free, within its fair use guidelines. Conditional logic, calculations, signatures, and file uploads are on that free plan. Direct integrations on the pricing page include Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make, and webhooks. That is why Tally is the clear pick when the job is a form for anything, without a response cap.
Use Tally after a newsletter signup when a simple redirect or embed is enough: one form, stored responses, no offer wall and no partner lead page. It stops being the right tool when the answer has to choose a newsletter offer or write a field back onto the subscriber. Tally's Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign help articles show how to pass hidden fields into a form link. They do not document native field sync back to those ESPs, and Beehiiv is not a direct integration.
Paid Tally, checked the same day: the pricing page showed Pro at €20 a month and Business at €65 a month. Tally's help article "Plans & pricing" still lists Pro at $29 a month and Business at $89 a month. Those two Tally pages disagree, so read the pricing page again before you upgrade. Fair use examples include about 50,000 submissions a month for three or four months in a row, which can move an account onto a custom plan.
Choose Tally if: You need unlimited free forms, not a newsletter offer layer. Sponsor applications, event registration, internal requests, or a plain thank-you page form with no offer wall. Keep it even if greetform runs the post-subscribe flow.
Beehiiv Surveys: best if you only use Beehiiv
Beehiiv can send a new subscriber straight into a survey after the subscribe form. Each answer maps to a custom field on that Beehiiv subscriber, and you can segment or automate from those fields. Question types in Beehiiv's own guide are short response, multiple choice, dropdown, and long response. You can mark a survey as the subscribe survey, the unsubscribe survey, or the downgrade survey.
That is field capture inside one ESP. It is not an offer wall, not partner lead routing, and not a path to ActiveCampaign or Mailchimp. Beehiiv's pricing comparison lists Surveys on Lite, Pro, and Enterprise, and not on Free. At up to 1,000 subscribers, Lite is $49 a month billed annually, or $59 month to month. Price steps up with list size, so read beehiiv.com/pricing for the bucket you are actually in.
Choose Beehiiv Surveys if: You only need Beehiiv fields. The list lives on Beehiiv, you are already on Lite or above, and the only outcome you need is a custom field. Add greetform when you also need offers, leads, or a second ESP.
Typeform and Fillout cover different jobs
Typeform is the conversational survey: one question at a time. Its free-plan help article says 10 responses a month across every form, with branching logic included, and lists Mailchimp among the free integrations. The same article says Typeform experiments with plans, so the number in your account can differ. The public pricing page, checked the same day, sells Basic at $39 a month with 100 responses a month and does not print the free-plan response count. Automated lead routing is listed as a paid feature. None of that is a newsletter offer wall.
Fillout's pricing page leads with unlimited forms, unlimited seats, and 1,000 responses a month on the free plan, plus conditional logic. The free integration row names Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, HubSpot, and Mailchimp. That is the database and operations form. Paid dollar amounts on that page were plan buttons rather than stable figures during this check, so this guide does not quote them. Fillout is the right adjacent tool. It is not the post-subscribe newsletter job.
Primary fit by job to be done
| Your main job | Start here | Why |
|---|---|---|
| What happens right after newsletter subscribe | greetform | Questions, offers, leads, and ESP fields are one flow. |
| Unlimited free forms for any use case | Tally | Unlimited forms and submissions on the free plan, within fair use. |
| A subscribe survey that only writes Beehiiv fields | Beehiiv Surveys | Native, and only inside Beehiiv, on Lite and above. |
| A conversational survey where completion rate is the point | Typeform | One question at a time. Response caps are tight on Free. |
| A form that has to land in Airtable, Notion, or Sheets | Fillout | Those databases are the product's center, not newsletter offers. |
| A newsletter flow plus unrelated ops forms | greetform and Tally | greetform after subscribe. Tally for applications, events, and internal forms. |
Scenario: one newsletter, two tools
A city newsletter, or a creator list, takes the email on Beehiiv or Mailchimp first. greetform then asks which neighborhood or role fits, shows a matching offer or an advertiser lead, and writes the fields back to that ESP. The same publisher still uses Tally, or Google Forms, for the sponsor application, the event registration, and the annual reader survey. Those are general forms. They should stay general forms.
Putting a Tally form on the thank-you URL can collect an answer. It does not, by itself, give you an offer wall, a branded lead page, or native field sync to Beehiiv, ActiveCampaign, and Mailchimp. If that is all you need this quarter, Tally is the honest pick. If the answer has to change what the new subscriber is offered, that is greetform's category.
