November 2026 · A letter from the greetform team
You worked hard for that subscriber. Then you told them to check their inbox.
Dear publisher,
Someone just gave you their email address. They found you, trusted you and asked for more, all in the last few seconds.
They will never pay closer attention to you than they are paying right now.
Most newsletters spend that moment on a thank-you page. The person shrugs and leaves. You learned nothing except an address, and the next time you hear from them is an inbox with 200 other things in it.
We did it too. We run more than 20 local newsletters and we wasted that moment ourselves. So we put a few quick questions and the right offer there instead, and we called it greetform.
What goes in that moment depends on what you run. So before we go on, we have a question for you.
Which one sounds like you?
Tap one. This letter changes, and so does the form beside it. That is all greetform does: it asks, then shows you the part that fits.
Your readers vote. Your sponsors want to know how much they care.
A reader who signs up in October of an election year is telling you something. Ask which race they follow and which issue decides their vote, and you know more than any open rate will ever tell you.
Then sort them. The ones who would give, volunteer or show up are a different list from the ones who only want to stay informed. A forum seat goes to the people who said they would show up. Your paid tier goes to the ones who work in politics.
Every answer lands on the subscriber in your email platform, so your next send can go to the people following that one race.
You have the audience. You just do not know who is in it.
A big local brand signs up thousands of people who read one thing. The high school sports reader and the city hall reader get the same welcome email.
Ask what they read first, and whether they get the paper. The digital-only reader sees your subscription offer. The reader who markets a local business asks for your rate card, which is an advertiser lead your sales team did not have to find.
Your advertisers get something new to buy too: a spot in the form, shown only to the readers who fit.
Your newsletter is full of people who might move. Find out which ones.
A signup form that only asks for an email treats every reader the same.
Two questions change that. Buying or selling, and when. The reader moving in three months gets a call offer right there. The reader with no plans gets your market notes and stays on the list.
You see who said what, in your email platform, before you ever pick up the phone.

All three are made-up examples. Tap through them like a reader.
Two out of three new subscribers finished the form.
These are three newsletters we own, so we can show you every number. Yours will be different. That's why it's free to find out.

Why people answer.
Ask them something instead. People like to stay consistent with what they just did. Someone who answers a few questions about your newsletter hasn't only subscribed. They've taken part. Psychologists call it commitment and consistency. You'll call it the first real conversation you've had with that reader.
And now you know things. Where they live. Whether they own or rent. Whether they run a business. What they want more of. That lands on their record in your email platform, so a homeowner and a renter can get different emails from day one.

I will set it up with you. Here is what I want back.
I'm TJ. I run more than 20 local newsletters, and I built greetform because we were wasting this moment ourselves.
If you run an established newsletter, get on a call with me before November 30. I'll build your first greetform with you for free, and tell you what I'd ask your readers and what I'd sell them.
I do want something: your honest feedback and, if I did a good job, a short review. It costs you no money and very little time. If I didn't do a good job, you owe me nothing.
The honest answers.
Will it annoy new readers?
Do I have to change email platforms?
What do I get for free?
What happens if I go over the free limit?
What if I try it and hate it?
Does greetform pay me for offers?
All you can lose is a thank-you page.
